FRSWC Unveils Environmental Moments Campaign
The Fredericton Region Solid Waste Commission (FRSWC) has created a number of public relations and marketing programs over the years.

Although the majority target of marketing has been recycling, the FRSWC almost went back to the basics in its latest series of advertising under the theme Environmental Moments.

With print, radio and on-line driven advertising, many of the items highlighted are designed to create awareness of some of the simple items and questions the FRSWC fields on an every day basis through its Recycle Hotline (453-9938) or through e-mail questions.

Environmental Moments that show aluminum cans being placed in the blue recycle box are allowed the have the paper wrapper remain on the product. Or the reason the FRSWC does not recycle glass is explained in an informative manner. Milk cartons, syringes and white goods along with other key recycle questions will be addressed under the Environmental Moments campaign.

“The FRSWC wanted to ensure we were creative with our advertising for campaign for 2010 and beyond, but sustainability and through a marketing program that has a long shelf life was also a key element in our direction for the Environmental Moments,” said Gordon Wilson, the general manager and CEO of the FRSWC. “The feedback has been positive and that’s what the commission is always aiming for in terms of working with the public.”

The Environmental Moments campaign will continue throughout 2010 and possibly beyond, said Mr. Wilson.
